“Me” Time

“Nourishing yourself in a way that helps you blossom in the direction you want to go is attainable, and you are worth the effort.” –Deborah Day

Investing in ourselves, especially as women or parents, can sound like a foreign concept. It can seem selfish and self-serving because we are taught by culture and the Church that our lives are meant to be given away. And certainly, that is partly true, but how can anyone draw from an empty well?

No, this is not selfishness. It is wisdom for the mind, body, and soul. I can’t give what I don’t have. I can’t love if I don’t love myself. I can’t invest in others from a depleted place or what I give will be rotten and sprinkled with bitterness.

The purpose of “me” time is both for my own health and for the benefit of others. I am listening to this inner wisdom letting me know it’s time to regroup and recharge. Because this is how I show up the way I want to. This is how I plant. And this is how I flourish.
