After undergoing my fifth knee surgery on the same knee three weeks ago, I found myself subjected to forced stillness. You would have thought that the surgery recovery would have been a welcome chance to really put contemplative practices into action, but I found myself wanting to distract myself instead of engaging. I realized that it was because I was in a season of waiting.
Identity
When I found myself failing in my role as a wife, I started forming a new understanding of identity – one that was deeply rooted in who I believed I was instead of who I thought I was supposed to be. And I finally came to understand that no person or group could be the compass for that.
